Fresh Memories of Snoop Dogg

Longevity-noun
- Long duration or continuance, as in an occupation
- Long life; great duration of life
The above definition perfectly describes this weeks Fresh Memory, Snoop Dogg. After almost two decades in the rap game Snoop Dogg is still a force to be reckoned with. He personifies longevity. His flow is remarkable. His voice is unmistakeable. When Snoop steps to the mic there is no doubt in your mind who's rapping. In the ever changing landscape of rap music Snoop has managed to be both consistent and relevant. I dare you to find flaws in his catalog. You can put Nuthing But G Thang on at any BBQ in the free world and everybody will be nodding there head. Try it next summer.
This entry into Fresh Memories is sentimental to me for a few reasons. Tomorrow Snoop will drop his 10th solo LP Malice in Wonderland. For those of you too young to remember Snoop dropped his first album back in 1993. Back then you had a choice of CD or cassette tape when you purchased new music. I'll never forget walking into Sam Goody with my dad in tow. I proudly marched to the counter and asked the lady for Doggystyle on CD. I was too young to appreciate the masterpiece then. Too young to appreciate how the young wordsmith immaculately painted a landscape of vintage Dr. Dre production. Please, come to think of it I was too young to know what Doggystyle even was back in 93. But today as a grown man I can appreciate his work. Doggystyle will go down as one of the greatest albums of all time. Arguably one of the greatest debut albums from any artists. It's 2009 and Sam Goody has been replaced by itunes. Cd's have been replaced by MP3's. But thank God there has yet to be a replacement for Snoop Dogg. So tomorrow I'll download a copy of Malice in Wonderland (the legal way of course, bootlegging is Not Fresh), and turn my speakers up high. I'll zone out and remember why i fell in love with West Coast hip hop. The times may change, but my Fresh Memories of Snoop Dogg will always remain.
Snoop Dogg has had too many hits to list. In honor of Snoop Dogg, we present his top 10 songs.
